The Old Children’s Hospital in Wellington is undergoing staged seismic strengthening and upgrade works as part of a broader programme within the existing building.

The objective of this project is to strengthen an important health facility while supporting efficient delivery across a carefully sequenced construction programme.

Our involvement.

Petone Engineering was engaged by Hawkins to deliver structural steel strengthening works at the Old Children’s Hospital in Wellington.

Working within an existing building required careful sequencing, close coordination with the wider project team, and a proactive approach to site delivery. Phase 1 was completed four weeks ahead of schedule, reflecting the commitment and coordination of both the project management and site teams.

This project reflects Petone Engineering’s ability to deliver strengthening works efficiently within complex existing-building environments, while maintaining quality and programme certainty.
